Sales Engineer - Germany

Working in conjunction with Sales, Marketing and Product Managers, the Sales Engineer will be the technical bridge between our Sales Representatives and their pre-sales customers. The Sales Engineer will take ownership of the prime technical relationship with our pre-sales customers to drive customer satisfaction by proactively managing and delivering technical information to our customers both onsite, online and via telephone.

Job Description:

  • Responsibility for working with the sales teams, delivering sales & technical presentations to customers, performing needs analysis, architecting solutions and matching the best technical solutions to meet customer’s requirements
  • Share best practices with Sales Engineers to enhance the quality and efficiency of the other members
  • Maintain and expand working knowledge of current and beta (non-released) Trend Micro products
  • Provide software / network troubleshooting on minor technical issues to channel / presales customers
  • Prepare and deliver product training to both sales and Trend Premium Resellers (technical and sales staff)
  • Preparation, delivery of presentations and following up on technical presentations
  • Product demos – preparation, delivery and follow up on technical product demos
  • Provide technical back up to sales – attend trade shows, follow up after sales calls / visits etc.
  • Day to day – deal with unscheduled items e.g. internal questions from sales, incoming presales calls etc.

Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel to attend customer visits, presentations, marketing and other events
  • Ability to effectively instruct or guide customers onsite, online and via telephone
  • Ability to conduct formal and informal training sessions or presentations
  • Strong multi-tasking and problem solving abilities, quick learner with desire to learn new tools and techniques
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, customer service, account management and negotiation skills with the ability to interface with a diverse set of clients
  • Excellent English – written and spoken
  • Work in fast-paced, high pressure environment under supervision to provide technical knowledge of Trend Micro software products within pre-sales customer’s environments
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Flexible working hours, manage own time effectively

Qualifications/Education/Experience:

  • Previous experience working with multi-cultural teams
  • Several years experience of sales engineer role in computer Software or systems and / or technical support
  • Knowledge with anti-virus, anti-spam, web filtering, content technologies, and / or other security technologies would be a major advantage
  • Trend Product TCSE (L2 certified) would be preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 or 2000/2003 or UNIX (AS/400 or S390) Operations Systems
  • Experienced in one or more of the following: Server/Desktop Operating Systems, Networking Architecture, Messaging Servers, Firewalls, Inter-relational products and peripheral customized to each client network

  • One or more of the following certifications or related experience:
  • MCP/MCSA certification on Windows NT 4.0 or 2000/2003
  • UNIX System Administrator/Solaris Administrator
  • Certified Lotus Professional
  • CNE or CNA
